Nitro Gear and Axle dealer Clavicle 3 Off-Road is a shop that developed out of a raceteam several years ago. Beyond the race shop Clavicle these days specializes in builds beyond the average with Cummins swaps into other platforms, custom axle narrowing/building and LS swaps just part of what they can do. We grabbed some pics of their shop and a few projects the last time we visited and came away impressed by the diversity of machines these guys are willing to tackle.
“Hammer” was built to race in JeepSpeed and the Best in the Desert series. JK based this machine runs a 700+ HP (Dyno’d at the wheels) race Hemi, Atlas T-case and 9 inch based axle assemblies. Capable of speeds in excess of 140mph it’s a force in any offroad terrain. Huge bypass shocks and massive travel smooth the big holes and General Race tires put the power down. The guys were busy prepping for a race with some of the panels off letting us better see the massive amount of fab work normally hidden beneath the skin.
Beyond the race Jeeps, these guys live and breath performance diesel. Cummins swaps are a specialty, typically with highly tuned versions of the venerable inline 6 diesel finding there way into non Dodge vehicles. The black Ford truck below is running a twin sequential turbo Cummins with a completely custom drivetrain behind it including a swapped in Dana 80 rear axle as the OE Ford 10.5 proved to be less than reliable with all the torque being pushed through it.
Probably our favorite build belongs to one of the technicians. A mid 90’s Ford Crew cab running a twin turbo Cummins and complete late model Dodge AAM axles and suspension front and rear. The turbos came off a wrecked semi and are capable of building close to 100psi of boost if needed. Cool truck and a total sleeper.
They do trail trucks too, whether LS Jeep swaps, mild pre-runners or something vintage cool like the Scout out front this shop doesn’t shy away from a challenge and uses the best parts available, including our own Nitro gears and axles.
